The world as we know it is quickly changing and evolving. A new generation will soon occupy roughly 75% of the workforce and feel unprepared to handle the challenges they will face. Industry 4.0 introduces a plethora of new industry terms that are reinventing the blend of cyber-physical systems, which include cognitive thinking, automation, and the IoT (Internet of Things). The AEC industry plays a crucial role in mitigating the transition between the digital and the physical, but as an industry, we must remain relevant in the conversation. It’s not a conversation of IF, but rather WHEN we will face disruption, and the worst mistake we can make is assuming millennials are prepared to handle the challenges this new industry proposes. The common misconception millennials face is the notion that they understand and know how to leverage technology because they grew up with it.
Millennials are looking to industry leaders to provide timeless skills in a very timely manner as they prepare to embrace Industry 4.0 – and if current leaders won’t teach them… then who will? Attendees of this session will learn what these terms mean in reference to the AEC industry, how to prepare their firms for the changes that Industry 4.0 may have on the industry, and a clear knowledge of how to position themselves (personally) to thrive when these changes occur.
• Participants will learn how to better position their firm to embrace the challenges of Industry 4.0 as well as how to leverage their talent to identify opportunities within this new industry.
• Participants will gain insight on how to attract, retain and develop millennial talent.
• Participants will receive solutions on how to teach timeless interpersonal skills in an effective and timely manner.
